Apples and Cinnamon are the perfect flavorings for these Homemade Apple Cinnamon Waffles from scratch. Warmth, comfort and so much yum! The whole family will enjoy these!

Step-by-step photos and instructions are below!

Apple Cinnamon Waffles (1)

Apples and Cinnamon are made for each other, and this waffle recipe is no exception. Crisp and golden brown, with a soft, tender, fluffy center studded with apples. Yes, please!

Warm, inviting smells coming from the kitchen makes my whole family get up out of bed and run to the table!

On weekends, I typically do a cooked breakfast. Sometimes corned beef hash (if I have the ingredients), sometimes oven baked bacon, eggs, potatoes and toast… but most often it’s pancakes or fluffy waffles.

Busy mornings are a little tougher, but that being said, these homemade cinnamon apple waffles are pretty quick to throw together and cook.

Just 15 minutes max from beginning to serving, and they do make a nice change from cereal, right?

While these are perfect for a Fall breakfast, we eat these all year round! Any time you have fresh apples, make a batch of these for the freezer! Try my applesauce pancakes, too!

Frequently Asked Questions

How to make waffles with pancake or waffle mix:

You can, OF COURSE, make these Apple Cinnamon Waffles with a premade mix, just follow the instructions for waffles, and add the grated apple and cinnamon.

Can I use whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour?

Yes, you can use whole wheat flour, but it will make the waffles a bit denser. You can also try a mix of half whole wheat and half all-purpose flour.

Can I use apple sauce instead of fresh apples?

Absolutely! Applesauce can be a good alternative. It adds moisture and apple flavor to the waffles without the chunks of apple.

How do I make the waffles crispier?

Ensure your waffle iron is fully heated before adding the batter. Also, you can place the finished waffles in a toaster, oven or toaster oven (around 200°F or 95°C) for a few minutes to crisp up.

Making a large batch?

Keep the cooked waffles warm in the oven.

What to serve with Waffles

  • pure maple syrup
  • butter or whipped cream
  • a pinch of ground cinnamon
  • lots of hot coffee

Kylee’s Notes

What to do with leftovers

If you have extra waffles – lucky you! Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Pop them in the toaster or oven to reheat.

Substitutions/Additions

Add some vanilla extract to the wet ingredients for added flavor.

Use applesauce instead of grated apple if you prefer.

Freezing instructions

Freeze in a single layer until solid, then store in a freezer bag. Reheat in the toaster.

Recipe Ingredients and Possible Substitutes

The full list of ingredients and quantities is found in the printable recipe card below.

  • Flour. Regular, all-purpose flour. You could use oat flour or whole wheat flour if you prefer. This will make the waffles more dense, and you’ll need to increase the heat/cook time to allow for it.
  • Cinnamon. A little nutmeg added to this is good too!
  • Baking Powder
  • Brown Sugar. Light or dark, it doesn’t matter.
  • Eggs. Large eggs.
  • Milk. any type. almond milk, oat milk, 2%, whole milk. All regular and non-dairy milk types will work.
  • Melted Butter. I use salted butter.
  • Apple. My favorite type of apple for this are granny smiths, but any apple you have around will work great!
